DUBROVNIK PALACE HOTEL WINS TWO PRESTIGOUS WORLD TRAVEL AWARDS ONCE AGAIN
At the gala awards ceremony of the 'Tourism Oscars' – the prestigious 2006 World Travel Awards, held on Wednesday 20 September 2006, the Dubrovnik Palace Hotel was awarded for the second year in a row in the following two categories: Croatia’s Leading Hotel and Croatia’s Leading SPA Resort.
The Dubrovnik Palace Hotel was also nominated in the Europe's Leading Resort category, making it the first Croatian hotel to ever be nominated in this prestigious category of the World Travel Awards, where it was faced with a fierce competition from the other 19 luxury hotels nominated from Spain, Italy, France, Greece and other countries. The nomination itself was a valuable acknowledgment from tourism industry leaders who ranked the Dubrovnik Palace Hotel among the 19 finest resort hotels in Europe.
The thirteenth World Travel Awards gala ceremony to recognize achievements in the global travel and tourism industry took place in the luxurious Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort & SPA on 20 September 2006 on the beautiful Turks & Caicos Islands, southeast of Miami, and was directly broadcast worldwide by the BBC.
At the awards ceremony, attended by a great number of worldwide tourism professionals and members of the media, the awards for Croatia’s Leading Hotel and Croatia’s Leading SPA Resort were handed to Luce Baća, director of the Dubrovnik Palace Hotel.
'We are extremely proud to have received such valuable acknowledgments, recognizing the quality and worldwide distinction of the Dubrovnik Palace Hotel. These awards are even more significant and valuable to us because they have been awarded to the Dubrovnik Palace Hotel by the world travel industry for the second year in a row, which is both an honour and a huge incentive to the entire staff of the hotel to continue striving for the very best in the hotel business, with the selfless support of our owner Goran Štrok', said Luce Baća to the many representatives of the international media. Ms. Baća was joined at the event by Marin Nanić, a member of the Dubrovnik Palace Hotel staff who traveled to Turks & Caicos as part of a professional training trip. The two were the only representatives from Croatia.
The World Travel Awards were established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate the enormous achievements to be found in all sectors of the global travel industry. More than a decade on, dedicated travel professionals and their clients have come to regard the World Travel Awards as the best endorsement that any travel product could receive.
The worldwide voting campaign was opened on 18 April 2006 to over 150,000 travel agents, tour operators and travel buyers from around the world who decided on the winners of each category.
