Hotel History
The Dubrovnik Palace was originally built in 1972 for HTP Dubrovnik and subsequently Maestral Hotels. For nearly two decades it was one of Dubrovnik’s leading hotels, open all year around and achieving an impressive 60% average occupancy. As well as being a successful destination hotel it was also a popular place for locals to come for celebration dinners and nightlife. The hotel was badly damaged during the war years of 1991 – 94 when it came under heavy bombardment from the sea. Refugees were accommodated there after the war, but the structure remained in disrepair until Adriatic Luxury Hotels bought the hotel in April 2002. Demolition of the old Dubrovnik Palace started in June 2002.
Reconstruction
Rebuilding and equipping the hotel with, among other things, 11 km of carpet, 12500 cakes of soap, 12.8 km of soft furnishings, 2400 sheets and 2427 ashtrays - has been an immense undertaking, conducted according to the “Buy Croatian” policy guidelines favored by the Croatian authorities. More than thirty Croatian companies and suppliers have been involved and 90% of the equipment and building materials used for the renovation of the hotel originate in Croatia. Our partners include Tvin, Duga Resa, Kordun Karlovac, Biokalnik, Otis Elevators Zagreb, MB Frigo Zagreb, Siemens Croatia, Industrogradnja, Koncar, Energotehna, Fromax, Velebit, Vipnet.
